Hvar has a specific, limestone composure, a town that has spent six centuries absorbing the arrivals of strangers into its stacked stone embrace. For a Canadian couple who have spent a decade navigating twenty-five countries together, this was framed as a Hvar destination wedding, but for the groom, it was a homecoming. His family has been here long enough that the word baka has been in his mouth since childhood, and his middle name belongs to one of them, a quiet inheritance that turned a journey for a hundred guests into a collective return. From the Baroque ceilings of Palace Elisabeth to the roofless ruins of St. Mark's, the arc of the day moved from quiet preparation into a sea-edge celebration where the only thing older than the vows was the Adriatic itself.
